Ok, so, this is the bit about me! I’ve been vegan for a good many years now but I didn’t get into it for the health benefits. That all came later. I got into it because of my personal issues surrounding the subject. But, being one who grew up with food as the center of her world, I had no intention of letting a little thing like veganism get in the way of my quest for the delicious! So I went forth and began cooking! Above all I try to make things taste fantastic, and now, make them be good for you too. To me health isn’t just about the actual nutrients you put into your body, its about how you feel about your food, your emotional attachment, as well as your foods relationship with the world around it. That’s including where it came from so I strive to stick with whole, plant based, foods that came from preferably organic places nearby when possible. So, here I am, a recent transplant to Seattle, wa from Oakland, ca, which is where I developed my passion for raw desserts, specifically, through working at the wonderful Cafe Gratitude. I also grew up in the food industry, heavily inspired by my father, who I hope to be even half as good at, at food and art as he is, one day. Once in Seattle, I met the Thrive team and began doing specials for them. This is where I was given a chance to break out of what I had known and start throwing around totally new recipes and and new ideas (such as raw baby cupcakes and ginger bread people!!) I’m real into the idea of smashing peoples perception of what can and cannot be done, not only in the raw world, but also when it comes to veganism in general. People have built up these ideas about how vegan food is “supposed to be”, ideas that aren’t usually correct, that keep them from enjoying the benefits of these alternative diets. So that’s a little bit on my history, but I really hope my cakes do the talking for me!
